Sheffield city centre has ‘gone downhill’ says trader as independent game shop closes on Norfolk Row | ShefLive

A Sheffield businessman whose three-year-old games shop has been forced to close says the state of the city centre is getting “worse and worse”.


Owner Samir Jaouane made the decision to close The Vault on Norfolk Row, next to Fargate, after seeing a decline in sales.


He noted that even during the run up to Christmas it was not busy enough to earn the shop the money it needed to sustain itself.

Student campaign aims to give Sheffield’s River Don rights of a human - Forge Press

A group of students are set to begin a new campaign aiming to provide the River Don with the rights of a human. 
Named the “Rights of Nature Action Group”, they are part of the Student Unions’ ‘ChangeLab’ scheme, which allows the student body to create and manage their own community-orientated social-justice projects. 
Starting in the new year, it is a six-month project instrumental to bringing change to Sheffield’s largest body of water.

Grass roots flower market to return to Sheffield’s Castlegate as part of month-long Festival of the Outdoors | ShefLive

A monthly inner-city flower market returns to Sheffield this weekend in collaboration with the Festival of the Outdoors.


Pollen Market will bring over 30 traders to the Grey to Green Park in Castlegate, selling local produce, plants, fashion, homeware and food.


Festival of the Outdoors is taking place throughout March and has been described as a celebration of ‘the strength of Sheffield’s outdoors’. It aims to encourage activities outside and boost tourism in Sheffield.

SU “Free The Nipple” policy to allow all students to show nipples on nights out - Forge Press

The Sheffield Students’ Union’s council has voted in a meeting on December 7th to allow all students to have their nipples visible on nights out in the Students’ Union building.

People gathered at Sheffield’s Covid Memorial to remember those who died during the pandemic – as part of the first annual day of reflection.
